Working as a portrait photographer, mainly with women, I have yet to encounter someone who doesn’t struggle with self-confidence at some level.
You might think that you need to have strong self-confidence to do a portrait session, but that’s not entirely true.
The women I photograph are often terrified of stepping in front of a camera, but they have decided to step out of their comfort zones. That’s COURAGE, not necessarily confidence.
The awesome thing about having an amazing makeover and portrait experience here in my Calgary studio is that it helps to BOOST your confidence.
I hear so many excuses as to why you aren’t ready to be photographed right now.
A lot of it stems from insecurity around your body and looks but I’m here to tell you that you ARE worthy of being photographed right now. Even if you aren’t feeling “photogenic”.
When you put off the portrait session, you’re putting off an incredible opportunity to boost your self confidence.
Believe me, you don’t need to wait to lose weight or anything else [fill in the blank with your excuse here].
You’re waiting for perfection that will never come. There will never be a more perfect time than NOW.
Many people have a weight-loss goal they’d like to achieve first, which I totally understand, but it’s not necessary.
The right photographer can pose and light you in ways that magically take off those extra few pounds.
In fact, seeing yourself through my lens might be the motivation you need to focus on and achieve your weight loss goals!
I surveyed a bunch of people to find out, and I’d like to share some of their answers with you:
“My whole life I have never really felt beautiful.” - Lenni (49)
“I will be turning 60 soon. I have always felt fat and ugly and have NEVER had a nice photo taken of me.” - Brenda
"Always wanted to do this. Now at 77 is it time? - Loreen
"I honestly have never had a picture taken that I've like the way I look" - Mel
Or, maybe you’re waiting until you “deserve it”. Like a milestone birthday, or after completing a master’s degree, or getting a promotion at work.
But, when that happens, other excuses pop up to take it’s place and you think “geez, I wish I did photos back when I was younger / thinner / healthier”.
Does this sound like you?
Setting unrealistic goals only hurts your self-confidence.
You’re in a constant state of purgatory where “one day” you’ll be good enough.
Instead of telling me why you aren’t ready to be photographed right now (ie: too fat, too thin, too busy, too this, too that, etc), I’d love to know why you ARE ready to be photographed right now.
I like to ask this question, and I’ve kept a lot of the answers I’ve received. Here are a few:
"I am a new mom and turning 40 soon. I'd love to celebrate this big milestone birthday and all the changes with it in style” - Gabriela
"Wishing to have a great statement of myself as the woman I have worked hard to be" - Tania
"I've embraced my natural silvering hair. I'd love to see your camera's vision - of me!" - Sharon
"I'd Like to feel sexy again" - Michelle
While it may feel like a once-in-a-lifetime experience, you might be surprised to find out that you actually like having your photo taken professionally, just as Yvonne and Deborah did and that’s why they’re both returning this year for another session with me!
Or, Arianne, who has done multiple sessions with me.
Why, as women, do we constantly put off the things that we want the most?
If you want gorgeous images to capture your legacy, then I will do that for you in my Calgary studio today. I don’t need you to be more perfect than you already are.
And, when I show you the resulting images, you’ll agree.
I promise!
