Local makeup artist, Adrienne Furrie and I have been working together on portrait sessions for nearly a year now.
Not only does she work with me and other professional photographers to give our clients the look they’re dreaming of, but she also has her own makeup line AND her own subscription box as well, called Lovely & Local Box.
Lovely & Local combines Adrienne’s love for makeup with her passion for supporting local businesses.
Her subscribers receive a custom assortment of items from her line of makeup to freshen up each season. Not only that, she provides tutorials, tips and tricks to make sure they know how to use makeup to create the looks they want!
By partnering with a different local business each quarter, Lovely & Local subscribers are always surprised and delighted when their box arrives.
For the Winter box, Adrienne decided to partner with me, and here’s how it went!
Not only did we want to give the subscribers a gift certificate to use towards their own custom portrait experience, but we wanted to host an exclusive live event loaded with useful tips and tricks using our respective expertise.
We called it “Make the Camera Love You Workshop”!
I even rented a large studio to ensure we could handle a large group of people and still maintain a safe environment in the midst of the fifth wave.
I taught the group about how to pose for the camera, and Adrienne taught the group about how to apply makeup for the camera.
Each woman took home a gift certificate and Beauty Guide from me and they also had the opportunity to receive a free headshot!
Some of these gorgeous ladies even let me take a “before” photo to demonstrate what they had learned about posing during this workshop.
Even Adrienne did a before/after pose for me, here she is:
If you haven’t heard of Lovely and Local Subscription Box yet, then check it out for yourself!
Here’s what Adrienne has to say about it:
“My aim is to give women a seasonal surprise. Inspire them to try new things with their beauty routine and to introduce them to other great local brands with a few shared values.
They must be "lovely" - high-quality fashion and lifestyle products, healthy foods, and experiences that I'm confident my community will 'love' (no minuscule samples or unsaleable stock here!)
And Local - now more than ever, people are looking to support small, independent businesses with unique offerings. As one myself, this support goes a long way and if we all raise one another up it's a win for the entire community.” - Adrienne Furrie
