Do you have five million pictures of your kids and none of yourself? Why, as mothers, do we always take pictures but hide from the other side of the camera? I LOVE looking at old photos of both of my parents. It's amazing to see my parents as children, teenagers, newlyweds, new parents - every stage of their lives. When it comes to moms, I feel like the pictures start to dwindle after the wedding. We put our kids first, and nowhere is that more evident than in the family photo album. Especially in this new digital age of camera phones, we catalog every little thing that our kids do, take endless photos of the food that we eat, and snap a few selfies that are so badly distorted that they are hardly a representation of how we actually look.
This Mother's Day, I challenge you to make this the year that you #ExistInPhotos. And not just the crappy cellphone selfies. Use a REAL camera, have someone else take the shot, or take it to the next level and hire a pro. You are worth it, and your kids will cherish the images of you at this stage in your life. I recently shot a newborn session where I convinced the new mom to put herself first. This video is PROOF that you can #FindYourBeautiful, even if you gave birth a week ago and have a crazy 2-year-old to add to the challenge. Happy Mother's Day!
