30 Days of Gorgeous:
A Calgary Blog Series Featuring the Beauty of Women 35 and Older
Tell me your story.
In a nutshell? I was born and raised in Whitefish, Montana.
I am the oldest of three girls.
I lived all over the U.S. before returning to Montana, where I met my future husband, who is originally from Calgary.
We started dating long distance and after about a year, I moved to Calgary in 2012.
Since then, I’ve enjoyed a career working at two different nonprofit agencies in the city.
I married my husband in 2014. We have three beautiful boys and I absolutely love being a mom!
Why do you want to participate in the 30 Days of Gorgeous?
At 41, soon to be 42, I have a child with special needs and 7 month old twins.
I am currently the sole income earner in my family.
Many days, I feel like I’m just keeping my head above water.
I want to do something for myself.
I want to embrace my aging process and boost my self confidence.
I want to capture a real and beautiful image of me at this stage in my life.
What does being a woman of your age mean to you?
I was a “late bloomer”.
I didn’t get married until I was 35 or have my first child until I was 37.
I had my twins at 41!
I became the CEO of a small nonprofit agency in Calgary at age 40.
Being my age means I have the wisdom and experience to excel at both my career and parenting.
I have more patience and strength than I ever did in my 20s or 30s.
What is the number one piece of advice you'd tell your younger self?
Stop worrying so much about your physical appearance.
Stop caring so much about what other people think.
Focus on being healthy, strong, and kind.
What makes you feel beautiful?
Being in the presence of my family makes me feel beautiful.
I love being a wife and mother.
My husband and children love and accept me regardless of my shortcomings.
It’s the best feeling I could possibly ask for.
