Don’t feel sorry for the Class of 2020.
Yes, they’ve missed out on some traditions that they’ve been anticipating for a long time.
They will not have a Homecoming and Banquet, walk the stage to receive their diploma, get the chance to say goodbye to the school they’ve spent years attending.
They say “necessity breeds innovation”. We see businesses everywhere “pivoting” to adapt to this new pandemic-ridden world that we are living in. If they don’t, they won’t survive.
My own son graduates grade nine and will be heading off to high school in the fall. We were bummed that he doesn’t get to say a proper goodbye to his junior high school, but we have to look for the silver linings and find other ways to help him celebrate.
I’ve been getting a lot of inquiries from parents of graduating students to do portrait sessions. Mainly because the girls have invested in beautiful dresses that they can’t wear to a dance, but also because this is a milestone worth capturing!
No matter what your child is graduating from, whether it’s high school, university, or even kindergarten, find a way to celebrate so that in ten, twenty, thirty years from now, you will look back at 2020 and reminisce about the good times.
