When it comes to boudoir photography, wardrobe is everything.
What you wear allows you to show your own personal style and accentuate your favorite parts of your body.
When it comes to choosing your outfits, it can be a little overwhelming, but it’s actually easier than you might think.
I’ve compiled some suggestions for possible outfits to bring to your session in my studio to help you feel sexy and gorgeous.
Bodysuits
A bodysuit is a great choice because they look amazing on almost any body type, and they come in a variety of styles and materials.
Go with a high-cut bodysuit to make your legs appear longer or a plunging neckline to highlight your chest.
I especially love bodysuits with long sleeves because they take the attention away from your arms allowing the viewer to view your sexier body parts, like your legs or decolletage.
Bra & panty sets
These sets are often the first choice for many women, especially because they’re often already in your wardrobe.
Push-up bras are great if you feel you need a little boost, but if you’re smaller chested, you want to avoid these bras because they can create an unflattering gap. Bras with underwires are an excellent choice for any size and shape and can offer a little extra support. And if you’re looking for something to add more of a sexy touch, consider a lace or sheer bra.
Panties come in almost any cut and style imaginable. Whether you’re looking for boy shorts, thongs, or something a little lacy, you can find whatever style makes you feel beautiful.
I love high-waisted panties for a bit of extra coverage without sacrificing the look.
Corsets & bustiers
These pieces are often confused with each other but are actually very different.
Corsets are designed to give your waist more definition, while bustiers are focused more on lifting and defining your breasts.
Bustiers are often a little shorter, while corsets can add shape but can also make you look smaller or more flat-chested.
Both corsets and bustiers can really limit your movement (and hence the poses I can put you in), so they are fun, but we won’t get a ton of looks out of them as I do with a bodysuit.
Non-lingerie
Boudoir is more than just lingerie.
It's about confidence.
It’s important that you feel comfortable and confident and let your personality shine through in your session.
Choosing outfits in addition to lingerie can give you a chance to show off who you are.
Think about what you’re most comfortable in. A cozy sweater? An off-the-shoulder T-shirt?
Don’t be afraid to choose something more personal.
Comfy is sexy.
I love deconstructing a favourite outfit to transform it into a boudoir look. Imagine a comfy sweater without the pants to show off your legs and shoulders; or just jeans and a bra for a partially dressed look; or even using nothing but a white sheet strategically placed to keep it modestly sexy.
Accessories (Optional)
Small details can add a little extra personal touch to your shoot.
Choose a bold statement necklace or sparkly diamond earrings.
Even some high heels or small pieces of jewelry can help make your images pop.
And if you’re looking to add a little sexiness, garter belts and stockings are a sultry touch.
Garter belts sit at your waistline and have adjustable straps that hang down to your legs to attach to stockings.
But even without stockings, this look is stunning.
I love using silky robes and scarves as simple but effective accessories to create more looks.
Don't get carried about though. Most of the time, less is more.
Now that you know WHAT to wear - make sure it fits!
Especially for boudoir there's no wiggle room for ill-fitting clothing - you need to be able to move around for all the fun positions I'll ask you to do.
But don't worry. I can do an entire session with just a bodysuit or a white sheet.
