I wasn't feeling great
on Tuesday. I've been fighting a cold and just making the short walk to my son's school was setting my lungs on fire. But Tuesday was 100 Women Who Care's FIVE YEAR anniversary! AND, I was hosting the 3rd Annual Personal Branding Event for these lovely ladies directly afterwards.
I have been a member of 100 Women Who Care Calgary since the beginning. My twin sister brought the idea to Western Canada and it has spread like wildfire ever since. Tuesday would mark 5 years since our first meeting in November of 2013. Twenty local Calgary charities have received our donations over the years, totalling more than $450,000!
I had 12 FREE headshots booked
and my amazing hair and makeup artist, Nadya (makeuparts.ca) was coming to give each of them a little touchup. I HAD to go!
It took me approximately 12 trips to the car to get everything loaded and I set off to Country Hills Golf Club to set up early. I could've kissed the manager when he offered one of his staff to help me carry stuff in from the car. The night was getting off to a great start!
As the women started to come through I was seeing familiar faces and meeting new people -
I was beginning to forget that I ever felt sick at all!
The meeting was a huge success. As always, it was inspiring, heartwarming and tear-jerking experience. It's never easy to cast the vote between the three nominated charities and that night was no exception. It was Made by Momma who won the vote after Allyson Palaschuk (Founding Member and Volunteer President) stole our tears and won our hearts by reading emails from a Calgary mom who is navigating an unthinkable balance between being a wife and mother and fighting a chronic illness that threatens her life.
So, heading into my Personal Branding Event to do mini-makeovers and headshots,
my heart was full and I felt a boost of energy
as I engaged with each of the beautiful women who had signed up for their free headshot.
No matter how bad I'm feeling, the company of woman like these is always invigorating. I absolutely love photographing women and I am so proud and honoured to be a member of 100 Women Who Care Calgary.
